In November 2004, Ted Habiger opened Room 39, in the KU Med/Volker district of Kansas City, Missouri. Combining seasonal ingredients and exceptional value with a warm atmosphere and friendly service, Room 39 has become a fixture in Kansas City for Dinner, Lunch and Breakfast.

Breakfast and Lunch are casual affairs with a dining room of beautifully handcrafted tables and simple yet elegant food such as our steak and eggs benedict, fresh pasta and our popular half pound burger. Dinners are more elegant but still a great value with an award winning wine list and a tasting menu that changes daily using our farmer driven produce and meat.

Ted Habiger, a three-time James Beard Foundation Outstanding Chef Award nominee, excels in multiple roles as a chef, restaurateur, sommelier, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He led Café Allegro, Kansas City's top Zagat-rated restaurant, and served as sous chef at Danny Meyer’s Union Square Cafe in NYC. As the owner and chef of Room 39 in Kansas City, Habiger also contributes as a vendor for the KC Current. Additionally, he partners with the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art for its dining program. In Mérida, Mexico, Habiger is the chef partner at Ánima, specializing in open-fire gastronomy. He owns a commissary kitchen in Kansas City that supports local food trucks and entrepreneurs. Habiger is a firm believer that the best-tasting food comes from local farmers who practice sustainable agriculture.
